Although best known because the orchestra was conducted by none other than Frank Sinatra, this set from 1957 stands up just as proudly because of both Lee's delivery and the material she (and Frank) selected. By this stage, Sinatra's reputation had recovered, he was a big deal at Capitol, and this was Lee's first for the label; note, too, the input from Nelson Riddle. The result is a 'concept' LP similar to Sinatra's themed sets, the theme being something unlikely to work in our post-feminist era: a woman's devotion to her man. I get choked up every time I hear Lee's version of 'Something Wonderful' from The King And I - here's a chance to hear it in context.
