Despite having an impressive international reputation, Bang & Olufsen continues to divide opinion among audiophiles. Often dismissed by many as merely a 'lifestyle' brand, it's sometimes forgotten that the company's contribution to audio technology has been immense. During a 30-year burst of creativity kicked off by an export drive in the mid '60s, B&O originated and pioneered key techniques relevant to all parts of the hi-fi chain. The period also saw the company perfect the styling for which it has become known and saw it set new standards when it came to ergonomics. Never was its memorable slogan 'for people who consider design and quality before price' more justified than during these golden years.
