Should anyone happen to dismiss your cherished vintage components as mere museum pieces, you might want to point them in the direction of the V&A. The museum's spring exhibition is showcasing the best of British design over the past 60 years, with the Lecson Audio system [HFN Aug. '11], given pride of place. Created in 1974 by Allen Boothroyd and Bob Stuart, who, of course, later went on to establish Meridian Audio, the innovative AC1 preamp with its coloured piano key-like sliders and the cylindrical API power amp brought a slice of cool to an audio world characterised by monochrome boxes and knobs. 'British Design 1948-2012: Innovation in the Modern Age' runs till the 12th of August. Ticket prices vary.
