My abiding memory of Clastonbury 2010 is of drifting around the Avalon Field and hearing dreamy Beach House twinkles and drones wafting across to me on the breeze. This album, right from the languid opener 'Myth', brings it all back vividly. As those who know this band will expect, there's not a lot of variation on Bloom. This Baltimore-based boy-girl duo is about setting a hallucinogenic mood and then sticking with it. When Victoria Legrand's lazy vocals float above slowly shifting keyboard chords and shimmering guitar patterns it feels like The Cocteau Twins with Nico singing, but in tune. Buy it in time for the summer and it'll become your 2012 soundtrack.
