Hey, even a true genius like Wonder would have a hard time following a run of LPs that included Music Of My Mind, Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs In The Key of Life. They raised the bar so high that this 1980 release seemed only so-so - but that's by his standards. From anyone else, it would have been hailed a masterpiece. The black music scene had changed radically, disco dumbing it down, reggae belatedly carving out a piece of the US market, with rap/hip hop commencing the takeover to what is now resolute supremacy. Still, Wonder delivered the goods, this set's high points including the epic 'Master Blaster (Jammin)'.
