All hail a contemporary recording (well, 2010) issued straight from the studio at 96kHz/24-bit on the forward-looking Starbucks Hear Music label. So a shame indeed that while frequencies are well extended and detail high, the dynamics have been cruelly crushed by 'loudness war' limiting to a level which may discourage sensitive souls from ascending into some of the better MacManus material here. The most enjoyable moments are from the simplest and least dense recordings, such as the Bluegrass-tinged 'Dr Watson, I Presume', and the expansive 'One Bell Ringing'.
