What makes you think your ears are better than mine?1 This cheeky but valid challenge from a hi-fi salesman is one you're unlikely to hear during equipment sales or when you're auditioning components. But it should be, don't you think?Just as not all audio gear is of equal quality, neither are listeners' ears. In our earlier pieces on hearing (HFN Jan/Feb '07, July '08) we talked about how our auditory system works to convey the majesty of music. It's also important to understand how our hearing can fail and how to prevent damage to it. What could be worse for music lovers than losing their hearing?
