Vintage through and through?

I have been reading your magazine for many a year and I have to say that I still find it to be the best among the audio-related titles available. However, there is one monthly feature that I do find somewhat disappointing. This is when you review vintage hi-fi and insist on using a CD player or computer as the primary source in the system. The review of the Spendor BC Ⅲ loudspeaker in the June issue was a case in point. When I first heard the Spendor BC range over 25 years ago the front-end supplying the music was a turntable, not a CD. So, in my case, I don't have a point of reference for the sound as you describe it in the review. Indeed, I could not begin to even understand how these particular loudspeakers would even sound with a CD player.
