PC audio with no PC in room

I read with interest the letter from David Lovell in the Oct '12 issue in which he said he was looking for a network streaming solution that didn't involve having a computer in the living room. Like David, I have no desire to have a PC in my living room, and I also thought that the article in the August issue explaining computer audio basics -which prompted David's letter - was a little one-sided in that it assumed I would want to have one.
