This space was intended for another stunning Whirlwind release, saxophonist Gareth Lockrane's Strut, featuring the great Hammond sound of Ross Stanley. But then the energetic London-based label came up with an album that couldn't be more different, and couldn't be ignored. Making a satisfying solo album is a challenge in itself for most pianists, but here the brilliant Robert Mitchell triumphantly gives us 50 minutes of absorbing music, played with his left hand only.
