It was the last thing I expected, but then I'm not exactly down with what's happenin' on the street. The proliferation of not just expensive, but insanely expensive headphones and headphone amplifiers at the recent Rocky Mountain Audio Fest [see p10] taught me a lesson: it is the future, whether we like it or not. One individual called it 'the new high end', but I fear it's not the 'good thing' some might wish it to be. This observation is more a case of being bowled over by the degree of the long-overdue backlash against earbuds-driven-by-iPods.
