Some of these machines found their way into broadcast and studio environments and, while very much a belt-and-braces deck lacking many of the features taken for granted on Japanese rivals, today it offers a good entry point for those wanting a first vintage reel-to-reel recorder. Although generally reliable in most respects, the drive idlers and capstan pinch wheel will eventually turn to goo. These parts will need replacing before anything else is attempted.
