Time Out was originally released in December 1959 as Columbia CL1397 in mono and CS8192 in stereo. Both originally came with the famous 'six eyes' label, red except for the 'eyes' for mono, or with black around the whole circle and the words 'Stereo Fidelity'. However, the six-eye design was soon replaced by the simpler 'two-eye' label, carrying the words 'Guaranteed high-fidelity' for mono and '360 sound' for stereo. By this time, with the success of the single release, the cover had been amended to highlight 'Take Five' and 'Blue Rondo A La Turk' in the top right corner. In the UK, the Columbia name was owned by EMI and could not be used, so Columbia's distributor. Philips of Holland, launched Time Out on its Fontana label [Fontana 682 065 TL] with a different cover.
