Garrard 301

The Garrard 301 has been available for some years now, and has already established itself as one of the best transcription motors in the world. Even so, it is very interesting to put it through its paces and examine it closely. The manufacturer's aim was to produce a motor fit for the most exacting professional work. This meant a level of wow, flutter and rumble that is inaudible under all conditions, and a reasonable certainty that this will still be the case after many thousands of hours of playing. The first is very difficult to achieve, requiring long experience, patient research, and good engineering. The second only requires very good engineering -note the common factor.
