Since making Mare Nostrum in 2007, the Sardinian-born trumpeter, French-Italian accordionist supreme and Swedish pianist have played together in many countries, but only last year found time to record again. Each member of this all-star trio contributes some quietly distinctive original pieces but two also offer borrowings from the classical world. There's a new, haunting version of Satie's 'Gnossienne No V, a Galliano favourite that also appeared on his album Ruby My Dear, and the set closes with Fresu's gently majestic arrangement of Monteverdi in 'Si dolce e il tormento'. A belated follow-up, but very welcome.
