Here the much-travelled Cuban pianist is joined by his touring companions, Senegalese singer/bassist Alune Wade, with whom he appeared on Havana-Paris-Dakar in 2015, younger brother Ruy Adrian L6pez-Nussa on drums, and trumpeter Mayquel Gonzalez. The music reflects its title, 'The Journey' and, after a jaunty version of Aldo Lopez Gavilan's 'Me Voy Pa' Cuba they move on quickly to 'Africa', where Lopez-Nussa effortlessly combines complex rhythms with melodic lines flying at dazzling speed. Bridging the worlds of Cuban music and Afropop, with classical and US jazz influences too, his playing sparkles like reflections on a sunlit sea.
