B&W 603

An assiduous upgrader of its various ranges, B&W has now turned its attention to its series of entry-level loudspeakers. The result is the new 600 lineup, which is crowned by the £ 1249 603 we have here - the sixth iteration of the company's 'bread and butter' floorstander. Cone is the yellow Kevlar midrange driver and in its place is a 150mm silvery-grey Continuum FST cone. This is joined by B&W's 25mm 'Decoupled Double Dome' alloy tweeter - with a re-engineered frontal assembly - and two new 165mm paper/Kevlar bass drivers. The latter work in parallel in order to improve the radiating area from what is the speaker's slim front baffle. The 603 is supplied with a two-stage reflex port bung, so you can listen with the foam bung full in, half removed, or without.
