ZF hasn't had a large presence in the North American commercial vehicle market, but expect that to change. The German company was founded more than 100 years ago as a supplier for the airship industry. It started developing synchronized transmissions for cars in the 1920s and '30s, and today ZF transmissions are found in a wide variety of vehicles, from Ram Trucks to Rolls-Royces. The company has since evolved into a global supplier of driveline and chassis technologies.
