It is fairly obvious that you can't improve the energy performance of your building in the future if you don't know what it is currently. Yet in the case of commercial buildings the majority of energy or facilities managers have only limited information about their current energy performance. They may have an overview of the overall performance of, for example, heating and cooling systems, but this is nowhere near as useful as being able to understand performance on a zone-by-zone level. The missing component in this respect is meaningful performance data, which is essential to maintaining optimum performance through the life-cycle of assets such as fan coil systems. However, an approach to commissioning that takes advantage of the latest technologies can provide ready access to the data that is required, as well as enabling straightforward re-commissioning where appropriate.
