Results of three to 10 year follow up of balloon dilation of the pulmonary valve

Backgorund-The results of immediate and short term follow up of balloon dilata- tion of the pulmonary valve have been well documented, but there is limited infor- mation on long term follow up. Conclusions-The results of late follow up Of ballon dilation of the pumonary Valve are excellent. Repet balloon dilata- Tion was performed in 11/100 of patients and Surgical intervetion for subvalvlar or Supravalvar stenosis in 5/100. Most patients Had mild residual pulmonary regurgita- Tion but right ventricular volume overload Did not develop and surgical intervention Was not required. Balloon dilatation is the Treatment of choice in the management of Moderate to severe stenosis of the pulmo- Nary valve. Further follow up studies Should be undertaken to evaluate the Significance of residual pulmonary regur- Gitation.
