Grandfather imprisoned for multiple gas safety failures

A 70-year-old man has received five prison terms for overseeing dangerous and fraudulent gas appliance work. In October 2012, Michael Atkinson installed a boiler at a house in Doncaster, under the direction of his grandfather, Graham Atkinson. An HSE investigation found that a flue was fitted incorrectly, and that the grandfather's registration with Gas Safe had expired, while his grandson's registration was restricted to work for his employer. Graham Atkinson had also carried out dangerous work on two flats in the town.
