Rms now provides a high-efficiency AC power system and lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) 40-A battery upgrade option for its computing and medication carts. Benefits include a faster charge time (twice as fast as a traditional SLA battery), a longer running time, reduced overall weight so carts are easier to move, and a less-restricted charging behavior because this battery's chemistry allows deep discharge or inconsistent charge without degrading capacity. According to RMS, this lithium battery boasts a life span of five years or more. Other batteries last between eight and 10 months, based on common usage patterns.
