The integrity test

Operators of bulk liquids storage terminals have a new weapon in the war against leaks - a round-the-clock, digital detection system that not only gives immediate warning of leaks but also pinpoints their location. Visitors to this year's Independent Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) conference and trade show were presented with a new concept in leak detection for storage tanks and terminal areas. Using digital time domain reflectrometry (DTDR) techniques, the system provides continuous monitoring of tank bottoms and shells, giving fast detection and reliable location of any leaks. It is also selective, able to distinguish between different types of liquids and is self-diagnostic.
