Looking back 25 years ago this month readers were flicking through the very first edition of the Bulletin. Current editor Peter Mackay looks back at some of the changes since then - as well as some aspects of the industry that haven't changed at all. "In few industrial fields has so much rapid progress been made in raising safety standards as in the transportation of hazardous materials, This ground has been gained in the face of significant obstacles, not the least of which have been rapidly increasing volumes of a growing range of products in transit each year and overworked/understaffed regulatory enforcement agencies." So said Mike Corkhill, HCB's founding editor, in his opening address to the industry in the very first edition of the magazine 25 years ago this month. If I were to write the same paragraph today, it would not seem out of place.
