The North American IBC industry is growing larger every year and, at the same time, switching its focus from the dollar to a cleaner type of green. Are these changing times for IBC producers in the US? The choice of the end user dominates any market, and industrial packaging is no different. With consumers now opting to listen to their conscience, rather than just their pocket, the industry is seeing a move from single-trip containers to multi-trip, reusable packagings such as intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). Sales of new and reconditioned 1,000-litre IBCs in the US have been increasing at an estimated rate of between 6 and 9 per cent per year for the past four years. Industry experts believe the market for this packaging will continue to grow at something like this rate for several years to come.
