Nestling half-way between Warsaw and Berlin, the fairy-tale city of Poznan this past November once more played host to the annual Poleko exhibition, giving both Polish and foreign firms alike the chance to show off their latest spill response and chemical handling safety systems. Billed as the "largest show of environmental protection and municipal services in the New Europe", the 19th annual Poleko trade fair at the Miedzynarodowe Targi Poznanskie saw almost 1,000 exhibitors from 21 countries showcasing their wares to some 23,000 visitors drawn from 32 countries across four continents. Occupying a total floor space of 18,600 m2, up 7.2 per cent on the previous year's event, Poleko 2007 had plenty on offer to catch the eye of any hazmat handler keen to keep their workplace clean, their chemicals safe and their colleagues and the environment healthy.
