The Association of Asia-Oceanic Steel Drum Manufacturers (AOSD) held its seventh two-day conference at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk Hotel. After a string of welcoming and introductory speeches by AOSD chairman Hirohisha Nakashima, the Mayor of Fukuoka Hiroshi Yoshida and Christopher Lind, Domenico Rinaldini and Minoru Inaba, respectively representing the US-based Steel Shipping Container Institute (SSCI), the European Association of Steel Drum Manufacturers (SEFA) and the Japan Drum Reconditioners' Association (JDRA), proceedings got under way proper with a presentation on Asian petrochemical demand by Masahiro Yoneyama, regional vice-president of SRI Consulting.
