Virtual pipeline

A dramatic surge in demand for natural gas, both in the US and elsewhere, coupled with the emergence of new, localised gas production from shale plays, are creating boom times for companies involved in LNG transport by road tanker. As consumer demand for gas increases across the board, so too does it surge from sources that are not served by pipelines, the commodity's more common system of delivery. Users not served by pipeline infrastructure therefore must depend on delivery of natural gas in its liquid form by tank truck. LNG road tanker operators and manufacturers have been busy rolling out a raft of new initiatives to meet the growing demand, and many expect this to be a long-term, and lucrative, market trend.
