Solvang ASA has posted a pre-tax loss of NKr 0.7m for full year 2010 on operating revenues of NKr 159.6m ($29.8m). While income was down 6.3 per cent on 2009, the small loss was the company's best bottom line figure since 2007. Solvang says there was some improvement in the company's main markets towards the end of the year but, as a while, earnings were "not satisfactory". Solvang's seven 60,000 m3 large gas carriers are marketed by International Gas Carriers (IGC), which last year was a 50/50 joint venture with Neu Gas Carriers. At the end of 2010 the partnership was discontinued and IGC is now only handling Solvang's LPG ships. In addition, one vessel, Clipper Posh, was sold for scrap this past February. Five of the remaining ships in the segment are trading spot while one, Clipper Mars, is on a long-term timecharter until 2009.
