One of the joys of revisiting the archive is digging out articles written by old friends in the industry. TheApril 1981 issue of HCB led with an article on the impending requirements for package testing according to UN specifications—something the industry is now well attuned to but a development thac was at the time causing some consternation. Harri Mostyn, then chief officer, dangerous goods at PIRA International, which took on the role of packaging certification in the UK, had spoken about die issue at the CIA distribution conference, highlighting some concerns, not least about the amount of work it would take to test each and every 'type' of package.
