The inaugural meeting of the new Natural Gas Marine Fuel Safety Advisory Group was held in London on July 10, organised by Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO). In its Terms of Reference, SIGTTO states it recognises the environmental benefits of LNG as marine fuel, but "has concerns that, in the rush to develop the concepts, some basic safety principles established over 50 years of marine transportation of LNG are being overlooked.
