The US Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued an advisory bulletin last month, reminding owners and operators of gas and hazardous liquid pipelines of the potential for line damage from severe flooding. The advisory offers actions that operators should consider to ensure the integrity of their lines in case of flooding. It comes in the wake of three events during 2011 that resulted in significant product losses.
