Who would be a chemical tanker owner? These ships are complex and costly to build, and expensive to run and maintain. The market is highly fragmented, technically demanding and subject to a wide variety of contradictory pressures. And, when it all comes down to the bottom line, profitability is all too often determined by the market for product tankers and the level of competition from swing tonnage.
