With the publication in early spring 2006 of Paffard Keatinge-Clay: Modern Architect(ure)/Modern Master(s), this remarkable figure's work reemerged into public awareness after thirty years of complete obscurity. The drama of its return recalls the oeuvre's dramatic finale: After a brief flowering in San Francisco during the heyday of the countercultural revolution, its run of unparalleled Modernist virtuosity unexpectedly ended when the maestro abruptly disappeared under suspicious circumstances (at least as far as the IRS was concerned) during the construction of the final project in the sequence.
