URBAN TRANSFORMATION (IN LATIN AMERICA) THROUGH MASS TRANSIT

While the 20th century introduced the automobile to the city, the 21st is bringing back the suburban railway-the metro-to the scene.1 Like the railroad in the 19th century, the metro makes diverse urban areas more accessible to each other and thus promotes a more equitable city. In growing and tumultuous cities like those in Latin America, filled with differences and conflicts, to guarantee efficient movement is a way to reduce carbon emissions, increase access to jobs and services, and improve daily life.
