In last month's hardware today there were a couple of stories about fires in hardware shops. what should i do to protect my shop?The first thing you should do is complete a fire risk assessment. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places responsibility on the owner or occupier of business premises to do this.; Fire certificates are no longer issued, but inspections can take place at any time, with considerable fines for non-compliarice. Factsheets 82 and 8 have more information on how to carry out a risk assessment, ahd the sort of things to look for in minimising potential risks.
