Poland's maritime industries present a mixed picture: Most of the ship owning companies as well as the shipyards are on their way into privat ownership. However, this can be difficult and sometimes even dangerous. Polish Register of Shipping fights for international acceptance. Currently, Poland's maritime industries present a mixed picture. The country is among the most advanced in its economic reconstruction, as is reflected in the state of talks with the European Commission on membership as well as in partnership in defence pact of NATO. Many industries, however, have arrived at a complicated juncture - the maritime industries are no exception.
