Ferries built by Fincantieri

Italian Fincantieri Shipbuilding Group has returned to constructing Ro-Pax- and even Ro-Ro ferries after contracting of cruise ships came to a near standstill after the terrorists attacks to the USA in autumn 2001. Luckily times have changed since autumn 2003. In Italian Fincantieri's annual report 2003 Corrado Antonini, Fincantieri Chairman, stated a little bit worried but hopefully: »Since as yet nor orders for deliveries beyond 2006 have been made, with the exception of Cunard Line's order to Fincantieri, it is reasonable to suppose that ship-owners will not be able to wait much longer before ordering new vessels to meet the increase in demand which has been forecast.« And so it came, the Italian Fincantieri Group managed to contract various cruise ships (see HANSA 3/2005, page 38-42) mainly with US-based Carnival Group for their numerous brands.
