The New World Alliance (NWA) has announced capacity cuts on its transpacific service. In addition to its usual winter capacity cut of 5-10 %, which may run for longer than usual this year, the NWA will make an additional 10 % cut at the beginning of December, resulting in an overall capacity reduc-tion of up to 20%. NWA lines (APL, HMM and MOL) State that they have been forced to make this »prudent business decision« be-cause of an unprecedented rise in operating costs, adversely affected particularly by fuel price rises.
