Beschäftigungseffekte der bremischen Häfen

The ports of Bremen rank amongst the leading maritime logistics locations in Ger-many and Europe. bremenports commissioned the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) with a new study to evaluate the effects of the port locations in Bremen and Bremerhaven on the labour market. The results of the study revealed that in 2010 more than 74,000 persons in the Federal Land of Bremen were employed directly or in-directly in connection with the ports. This means that roughly a fifth of all Jobs, revenues and value added are dependent on the ports in the smallest Federal Land in Germany. The Special role that Bremens ports play for the regional economy is also evident when compared with the ports in Hamburg and Lower Saxony: whilst approx. every fifth Job in Bremen was dependent on the ports in 2010, this was true of only every eighth job in Hamburg and every sixteenth in the port regions of Lower Saxony.
