It was a normal and very rainy autumn day, Thursday 9 October 1997. But everything was double: two ferry-beds in terminal Puttgarden, two newly built ferries with double-ends from the Netherlands to be named here, two godmothers to do this job and last but not least twins being captains to the newly christened vessels »Schleswig-Holstein« and »Deutschland«. DFO, Deutsche Faehrgesellschaft Ostsee mbH, daughter company of German Rail, got two new ships for their busy »VogelflugLinie« (Birds Migration Line) between German Puttgarden and Danish Rodby.
