High-Speed Ferry »SuperFast Ⅲ«

The Greek shipowner SuperFast Ferries S.A., a daughter company of Attica Enterprises S.A., owned by the Panagopulos family, received the first of two ordered high-speed ferries from Finnish Kvaerner Masa-Yards, Turku, in the middle of February. The second vessel is to follow in March. Both newbuil-dings, »SuperFast Ⅲ+Ⅳ« (28,800 GT, 28.5 kn), are going to start a new 19-hours service between Italian Ancona and Greek Patras on April 10. Up to now the existing ferries »SuperFast Ⅰ+Ⅱ« (23,663 GT, 27 kn), built by German Schichau Seebeckwerft, did this service in 21 hours and will be shifted to new routes Bari—Igoumenitsa and Bari— Patras. The new ferries are slightly bigger, but mainly faster than their forerunners.
