Ground handling organisations continue to face increasing demands for faster, more efficient performance on-time - and in the rush to prepare aircraft and transfer cargo, safety easily takes a backseat, putting people at risk. Fortunately, there are specific areas that leaders can focus on to advance safety across the ever-changing, diverse work environments, hazards and employee populations which are present in under the wing services - and thereby improve performance in other aspects of the business. In this first in a series of articles, we introduce the five most pressing issues facing ground handling safety today. Future articles will cover each topic in greater depth.
