Enviros to sue Interior over desert projects' threats to endangered bird

An environmental group has warned the Interior Department that it plans to sue over the department's failure to protect an endangered bird from threats posed by commercial-scale solar power projects in the California and Arizona deserts. The Center for Biological Diversity says the reported deaths of two endangered Yuma clapper rails at two large solar plants in Southern California in the past year and a half require the Bureau of Land Management to launch formal consultation with the Fish and Wildlife Service to evaluate potential impacts to the bird at a minimum of six already-permitted large-scale solar projects in California and Arizona.
