When Pope Francis arrived at the White House this morning, he may have seen the man in the fluffy white polar bear costume holding a sign declaring, "The Pope Gives Me Climate Hope." Frostpaw the polar bear, a creation of the Center for Biological Diversity, was stationed near 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. when the pope arrived ahead of his meeting with President Obama. "He actually waved to us," said Stephanie Kurose, a legal fellow at the environmental group who is traveling with Frostpaw today. The pope was waving to the crowd that had gathered to see him this morning, and "he may have seen us," Kurose said. "It's kind of hard to miss the polar bear."
