Boaty McBoatface fight boosted interest in science -- professor

The fight over naming the United Kingdom's new polar research vessel has had an "astoundingly good outcome" for widespread public interest in science, members of Parliament were told. The Natural Environment Research Council said it stands by its decision to hold a public poll in search of names for the vessel, in which Boaty McBoatface saw the most support.
