The Uber self-driving SUV that struck and killed a pedestrian in March misidentified the woman as another vehicle and didn't have its emergency braking system activated, federal safety investigators said yesterday. "According to Uber, emergency braking maneuvers are not enabled while the vehicle is under computer control, to reduce the potential for erratic vehicle behavior," the National Transportation Safety Board said in a scathing preliminary report.
