A liberal-leaning watchdog group released a report today that highlights a handful of policy decisions that it says were made to benefit political donors, former lobbying clients and business associates of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and other senior Interior officials. An Interior Department spokeswoman dismissed the report by the Center for American Progress as "a political hack job written by former Obama administration appointees who are angry that the Trump administration is fixing their broken policies." "The Department of the Interior works closely with ethics officials, and our dedication to the compliance of our ethics agreements is proven by our hiring of two veteran, career ethics experts," spokeswoman Faith Vander Voort added. CAP is quick to note its report "does not make any claims that Trump administration officials at the Interior Department have violated any federal laws or regulations." Rather, the report "describes the contours of what is currently known and not known about the Trump administration's practices at the Department of the Interior."
