New York City officials tried a bold experiment over the weekend: banning vehicles from 30 blocks of bustling Broadway. The experiment Saturday ,the day before Earth Day, affected 2 Manhattan miles from Times Square to Unicn Square.rnFrom 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., pedestrians and cyclists were invited to join in Earth Day festivities, free of the noise and fumes of traffic.
