Walmart Inc., Nestlé SA and Microsoft Corp. are among 179 companies given A grades for their climateaction and transparency, according to an report card released today by a British nonprofit.CDP, which was formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, ranked more than 8,000 companies on theirefforts to reduce environmental impacts this year, with only 2% of those assessed making the "A List."Companies that voluntarily disclose climate data to CDP get graded on a scale of A to D. Those that don'tprovide data - Amazon.com Inc., Facebook Inc. and Koch Industries Inc., among others - get F grades."Those on the CDP A List outperform their peers on the stock market by 5.5% per annum," said DexterGalvin, the nonprofit's director of corporations and supply chains. "Leading on climate action is goodbusiness in today's economy."
